Before your health changes, your beliefs must.
Welcome my friend Kim,
If you could change just one thing about your health… what would it be?
Pause for a moment.
What have you been told about your health? What did you grow up believing about your body—or your family’s health? What is culture… or social media… telling you now? And what does God say about your health?
One more question: Do you believe your health can change?
I’ve shared pieces of my story before. I spent years going from provider to provider, trying what felt like everything.
Except one thing.
Prescription medications.
I couldn’t accept that a chemical created in a lab was the only answer—that it would fix the problem rather than just cover a symptom.
So I started asking different questions. I chose to stay open.
And over time, I discovered something surprising:
There was another way.
What's Your Expectation?
Many of us feel like Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back—staring at a ship stuck in the swamp, convinced:
“We’ll never get it out now.”
That’s how health can feel.
We’re told:
- “This is just part of aging.”
- “You’ll need medication to manage it.”
- “Do your best—but don’t expect real change.”
So we lower our expectations.
And often… fear takes over.
Fear of loss. Fear of discomfort. Fear that trying something different won’t work.
Yoda gives a warning about this:
“Beware of the dark side… anger, fear, aggression…”
Because fear doesn’t just sit quietly—it drives decisions.
It pulls us toward what is quick, easy, and familiar.
When Luke asks if the dark side is stronger, Yoda answers:
“No… quicker, easier, more seductive.”
Isn’t that exactly what we see in our culture?
Quick fixes. Temporary relief. Solutions that don’t require real change.
But real healing?
It’s different.
Throughout Scripture—especially in books like Leviticus and Deuteronomy—God lays out a path for His people: one of intention, discipline, and design for well-being.
Not restriction for restriction’s sake— but guidance for flourishing.
The path of the “light”—or the Force, for this month—is not about fear of missing out…
It’s about gaining:
- More energy
- More mobility
- Greater capacity to work, play, and serve
Unlearning:
When Luke insists his ship is different—that it can’t be lifted—Yoda responds:
“No! No different. Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned.”
This is the turning point.
Because often, the biggest barrier to change… is not our body.
It’s our beliefs.
We’ve learned:
- “This is just how it is.”
- "It is just part of aging."
- “I’ve always been this way.”
- “Change is too hard.”
But what if those beliefs aren’t true?
Or at least… not fully true?
Small efforts can feel manageable:
- A little exercise here
- A better meal there
- Catching up on sleep when you can
But true transformation requires something deeper:
An open mind—and a willingness to release what isn’t serving you.
Your body was designed with an incredible capacity to heal when given the right conditions.
So consider:
Where might you need to unlearn?
- Nutrition
- Sleep
- Movement
- Stress resilience
- Connection
- Risk behaviors
And what is one small, consistent step you can take today to begin lifting your “ship” out of the slimy mudhole?
Up Next:
“What’s in there?” “Only what you take with you…” We will take a deeper dive into the what we have learned and experienced and how it might rob us of the present and our future.

Yoda Quote of the Week:
“I am wondering, why are you here?”
